Come and work with Katy using our new Carousel - ideal for textile screenprinting onto bags, t-shirts and lots of other textile surfaces where replication and register is important. You will be shown setting up, mixing ink and troubleshooting the production of designs onto textiles, including packing, heat-pressing, registering layers and more. A whistlestop tour of one of our newest and most exciting presses that are here in the studio during open access - an addictive process that lends itself to production and a very straightforward way of handling traditionally difficult products to print onto. You will leave with a t-shirt and bag plus samples on calico.
About the Tutor
Leicester based artist Katy Goodrich has been a part of Leicester Print Workshop for the last 15 years. Starting as a volunteer she then undertook a 5 year apprenticeship at LPW learning all aspects of print and in 2020 Katy became a technician here in the studio. Specialising in screenprinting, Katy uses underwater photographs to create her work mainly using the CMYK colour separation technique.
Leicester Print Workshop
Leicester Print Workshop is the regional development centre for printmaking. Established by artists in 1986, we are a registered charity, supported by Arts Council England. Our RIBA award-winning building is situated in Leicester City Centre's Cultural Quarter and is home to a large, well equipped open access Printmaking Studio.
We have over 30 years’ experience of teaching people printmaking. Our programme offers the largest number and broadest range of printmaking courses in the region, with courses suitable for beginners as well as experienced printmakers, delivered by practicing artists and nationally renowned tutors. Participants learn in small and friendly groups in our purpose-designed studio.
