Start with pen and ink to exploring lettering and mark making before moving onto experimenting with letterpress to create a series of hand burnished prints focusing on using type as image and exploring colour and form.
About the Tutor
Lisa Pickford is a designer and printmaker with a background that bridges planning and strategy with the world of visual arts. Based in Leicestershire, she transitioned to a creative career in 2022 and having completed a BA in Visual Communication at Falmouth University she has most recently embarked on training to become an Art and Design Teacher.
Her work revolves around exploring the narrative of image and type and with an interest in education, traditional printmaking, design and illustration, Lisa creates work that blends tactile processes and storytelling.
Leicester Print Workshop
Leicester Print Workshop is the regional development centre for printmaking. Established by artists in 1986, we are a registered charity, supported by Arts Council England. Our RIBA award-winning building is situated in Leicester City Centre's Cultural Quarter and is home to a large, well equipped open access Printmaking Studio.
We have over 30 years’ experience of teaching people printmaking. Our programme offers the largest number and broadest range of printmaking courses in the region, with courses suitable for beginners as well as experienced printmakers, delivered by practicing artists and nationally renowned tutors. Participants learn in small and friendly groups in our purpose-designed studio.
