Bring your old prints and found papers to this workshop and leave with a unique book that reflects the freedom and joy of collage. Working with Rosie, you will explore a couple of simple book forms and design ways of covering the pages in a way that expresses your voice while finding new and surprising visual partnerships.
Revisiting past prints, drawings, and visual ephemera can be a wonderful way to not only recycle sustainably but breathe new life into your practice. We will also be providing found papers to work with and plenty of things you will love to combine into new work. Cutting a small stamp, you will be able to add a relief print to your pieces.
A short session that will be fun and produce a lovely set of very personal books, while being the start of a journey into making that will surprise and delight.
About the Tutor
Rosie studied art and filmmaking at Manchester School of Art but has always considered herself a multi-disciplinary artist. She started her own business Rosie and Ramona in 2019 when she had her first daughter and wanted to combine her two dreams, be a stay at home mum and sell her art! (She's since had another daughter, both of which make significantly better art than her.)
Starting out as a wedding sign writer and then negotiating a plague she has since diversified taking her vibrant illustrations down every single available avenue. Rosie doesn’t stick to one discipline or art form, she's obsessed with folklore of past, pop culture of present and what art might look like in the future.
Leicester Print Workshop
Leicester Print Workshop is the regional development centre for printmaking. Established by artists in 1986, we are a registered charity, supported by Arts Council England. Our RIBA award-winning building is situated in Leicester City Centre's Cultural Quarter and is home to a large, well equipped open access Printmaking Studio.
We have over 30 years’ experience of teaching people printmaking. Our programme offers the largest number and broadest range of printmaking courses in the region, with courses suitable for beginners as well as experienced printmakers, delivered by practicing artists and nationally renowned tutors. Participants learn in small and friendly groups in our purpose-designed studio.
