Calling all relief printmakers!
LPW has recently taken in a Stephenson Blake Proofing Press to grow its already outstanding offer for anyone printing from the surface of their printmaking plates. Renowned for its speed, cleanliness and accuracy, this is the best way to print multiples.
You will spend a day using this press which is set at "type high" - any relief plate can be used, from woodcuts, photopolymer, type or lino.
You are invited to bring any linocuts previously made, or we will provide test plates for you to learn how to make any relief plate reach "type high" and ready for the proofing press.
You will have demos in how to use the press, how to ink up the rollers, register your paper to the plate on the press, feeding the paper through the press to print and of course, how to clean up. You will learn the minimum and maximum capacity of the bed and feel very confident to work with this fantastic press to realise fast, accurate and precise prints.
An absolute must for any artist who produces editions and wants to save time doing so.
Any lino cutting will be simple; this course will not be focused on lino cutting but rather the technicalities of understanding the processes following platemaking. You will all contribute to a collaborative set of prints with plenty of time to ensure you will know how this will benefit your practice.
