LPW is excited to launch a new year long Printmakers course that not only has a huge amount of technical knowledge but is also designed to build a strong artists practice in a supportive and well set up printmaking studio with free membership and open access to all facilities.
You will have half day weekly sessions with your tutors in three terms - term one is 11 weeks on screenprinting, term two is 12 weeks spent exploring intaglio processes and term three concentrating on 10 weeks of relief printmaking. Materials will be included within all processes and the course will end with an exhibition in the LCB Depot and a year long board for participants work in progress within the LPW studio.
This course is ideal to launch a thorough and expansive exploration of a full printmaking practice that builds not only knowledge but also confidence and offers a real alternative education directed into printmaking.
To help you make decisions about whether this is for you, we will run a coffee and chat informal session with all three tutors on Friday 22nd August 2025 at 11am - 12.30am - please email k.kneller@leicesterprintworkshop.com to let us know you will be coming.

FAQ
What level of experience do I need for this course?
This is a course that is suitable for all levels of experience and full instruction will be given in each technique but it is also a great opportunity for more experienced makers to delve into unknown territory and see where their practice can be developed.
Can I discuss any queries I may have with someone about if this course is right for me?
Yes, please contact the Education Programme Manager, Kate at k.dacasto@leicesterprintworkshop.com with any queries you may have regarding the content of the course. Please contact our Operations Manager Kezia at k.kneller@leicesterprintworkshop.com with anything regarding payment or membership.
Is there a way to spread payments over the year?
We will take a non refundable deposit of £500 and the remaining cost can be split over the length of the course in a monthly direct debit. This option can be discussed with Kezia in person, by phone or email.
What materials will I have access to?
During your taught weekend sessions all materials will be provided. When you choose to come in using your free membership, you will need to purchase any materials as necessary. You are also welcome to bring in your own materials.
How does the membership offer work?
You will have year long membership to LPW (including free Open Access hours) from 19th September 2025 to 11th September 2026.
You will have a free induction to the studio space with a technician in the afternoon of the first taught session. This will be a 3 hour session which then allows you to use the studio whenever you like during open access hours *for free*. Your induction will set you up with all necessary Health and Safety processes and general studio procedures to ensure you are happy and comfortable using the space unaided.
As a member, you will be able to purchase discounted art materials including paper and you will also receive a 10% discount code for courses. You will receive a digital ‘members pack’ which gives you important studio information, a reminder of procedures and price lists for any materials you may wish to purchase. You will also receive the members newsletter which is full of opportunities, studio news and info.
How do I access the workshop during Open Access?
Open Access is Wednesday - Saturday 10am - 5pm. During this period we have technician cover to ensure your queries can be answered and to facilitate the studio space. You can come in and use the space in the areas you know how to use once your induction has taken place.
We also have one night a month currently for late night opening our ‘Cultural Quarter Lates’ Friday on the last Friday of the month where the studio is open until 9pm.
What support will I receive during the year?
You will receive a combination of group learning with 1-2-1 feedback from your tutors. These will be scheduled throughout each term.
You will also be enrolled into an online ‘classroom’ which is only accessible by LPW, your tutors and year-long group – it is an easily accessible space for you to all share resources and receive peer to peer support.
There will always be a studio technician in Open Access hours to help with basic queries.
Will the monthly sessions be studio based?
Yes, you will be based in the studio space for your taught sessions and will be encouraged to stay on for the afternoon to extend your learning by taking advantage of the free membership.
Will there be a way to continue with my Print practice after the end of the course?
You would be able to join as a member and continue your practice in our studio. We also organise 1-2-1’s as requested and of course, we have a full programme of courses as part of our education offer.
I would like to discuss accessibility needs I may have, what do I do?
Please email k.dacasto@leicesterprintworkshop.com with any queries, concerns or accommodations that may be necessary to make your time in the studio easier.
What happens if I am already a member of LPW?
As the course includes free membership and hours we will not be offering member discount on this course. Current members will receive a free years membership - please see Kezia if you wish to discuss how this works. If you have a locker or drawer, you will need to pay for this as usual.
Tutor Bios
KATY GOODRICH:
Leicester based artist Katy Goodrich has been a part of Leicester Print Workshop for the last 15 years. Starting as a volunteer she then undertook a 5 year apprenticeship at LPW learning all aspects of print and in 2020 Katy became a technician here in the studio.
Specialising in screenprinting, Katy uses underwater photographs to create her work mainly using the CMYK colour separation technique.
ROBYN MACLENNAN:
Robyn Maclennan joined Leicester Print Workshop as part of the technician team at the end of 2021, specialising in etching and photographic techniques. She uses multiple printmaking and photography processes to explore the landscape and our connections to it. Robyn holds an MA in Fine Art and is currently undertaking a PhD at London College of Communication where she is researching how ecoGothic theory can be used to re-examine our relationship with nature and how fear has permeated our perceptions of the non-human world. She is particularly interested in the links between the darkness found in the ecoGothic and the necessity of darkness to her photography and printmaking practice as well as how understanding the agency of both the natural world and the works she produces can grant us a better understanding of the world around us. She has exhibited across the UK with highlights including the ‘Withheld’ exhibition in London (2022), the Derby Print Open (2023) and being featured in Somewhere in Between’s 2021 zine ‘Hmmm…Photography and Printmaking'.
