This comprehensive course is designed for beginners and experienced artists alike, offering an introduction to the expressive potential of colour in Linocut printmaking.

We will be looking at ways to make vibrant colour combinations with a limited palette of 2 or 3 colours per print. There will be discussions around how to use colour theory in your work and how to mix printing inks to create personalised colour schemes. Discover the power of colour to evoke emotion and convey meaning with valuable feedback and guidance from an experienced relief printmaker and artist.

About the Tutor

Jonathan Costall is a Printmaker who specialises in Linocut portraits. Currently he is working on a series of portraits which combines his duel passions of art and football. The main subject of his work has been Leicester City F.C players past and present, recently he has started a second series of portraits of “Football Greats”.

He studied BA (hons) Fine Art at De Montfort University (http://www.dmu.ac.uk/study/courses/undergraduate-courses/fine-art-ba-degree/fine-art-ba-degree.aspx) where he decided to specialise in Printmaking. After graduating he then went on to study at Wimbledon School of Art (http://www.arts.ac.uk/wimbledon/courses/) where he gained an MA in Fine Art Printmaking in 2005.
