Gregory Millar

I am a printmaker specialising in linocut. I studied graphic design and printmaking at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee before embarking on a career in graphic design at the BBC in London. I have also worked with creative agencies on brand identity projects around the globe. Now I have come full circle and returned to my love of printmaking.

My design style is inspired by numerous influences including the timeless clarity of classic Japanese woodblock prints and the honest realism of the Flemish painter Pieter Bruegel the Elder. My linocut prints are often large in size and use multiple linocut plates to overlay different colours together. The finished results are bold, figurative images, based on a wide range of my everyday experiences which hopefully evoke an emotional connection with the viewer. My subject matter is drawn from landscapes, sports and my young family.

I am a member of Leicester Print Workshop and the Society of Scottish Artists.
