Printmaker & Potter
In 2010 I became a member of Leicester Print Workshop, moving into printmaking having drawn all my life as a way of trying to understand & explore places and things around me.
The process of transforming a drawn image into an etching while attempting to control the unexpected is very similar to working in clay…The same excitement is found in opening a glaze kiln as in pulling a new print from the etched plate. Enjoyment comes from playing with the combination of careful planning and unexpected accidents.
In the late 60s I studied ceramics & metalwork at Camberwell School of Art, with the following four years in Japan studying ceramics & Japanese language.
Since 1975 I have lived in Olney in Buckinghamshire and produce a variety of work, thrown and hand-built ceramics, (often decorated with lettering), and a variety of prints – etchings, lithographs and collographs.
