I became a Leicester Print Workshop member in 2010 after taking part in some of the best workshops I have ever been to, including the six week Introduction to Print course.
The Leicester Market series of prints were created in response to LPW’s P2P 2014 because the former fish and fruit wholesale market was situated on the site of the multi storey car park next to Curve – one of the exhibition venues.
Inspirations are often seen during ordinary, everyday activities like shopping and walking in the park and Leicester Market provides an ever changing source of images. Stall holders carefully arrange their wares in the early morning and clear the decks at the end of the trading day.
My working method runs along the same lines. I cut all the stencils by hand for each colour. Some of these take hours to complete but all of them are destroyed in seconds after printing.
Leicester Print Workshop is a great place to work. I value the friendly support and encouragement given so generously by the other artists.
