Alan Treherne

I have long had a passing interest in prints via my art teaching career, but my interest moved into the practicalities of printmaking when I began collecting original prints. I wanted to learn about the processes involved in work by artists such as Graham Sutherland, Henry Moore and Frank Brangwyn.

In retirement I have used the Leicester Print Workshop studio to explore a range of techniques, most recently working with solar plate etching to combine printmaking with my interest in photography. Subject matter varies but is usually thematically linked by reference to objects and places that have lost their original purpose but which can be reinvented visually. Perhaps being “of a certain age” I have a natural empathy for the worn out, the discarded and the time-worn!
