Our Big Move Residencies

Our Big Move Residencies has been conceived to mark and celebrate our move from the Highfields area of Leicester into the city’s Cultural Quarter through a series of new works made by artists in residence.

Artists were invited to propose ideas that allowed them to explore notions of print, incorporating and/or subverting the wide range of print techniques and presentations. The opportunity has been awarded to three proposals by four artists – Sumiko Eadon & Emma Gardner (working in partnership) Sarah Kirby & Theo Miller. These artists are free to work in any medium and to work either individually or collaboratively with the studio users, LPW staff, the architects, and the contractors.

Takero Shimazaki the architect who designed our building was on the selection panel. He says, ‘The proposals are so in sync with the architectural ideas for the new building and I am sure some great collaborative pieces and ideas will come out of it. I am really looking forward to the artists’ works and how they will inspire our perception of the new building.’
