In Conversation: George Sfougaras
|When and where?||
Wednesday 5th December 5.30pm - 7.00pm
|What does it cost?||
Join us for teatime talks with LPW artists, as they discuss their ideas, inspirations and challenges as a practicing artist.
Meet LPW Artist George Sfougaras, an artist who makes work inspired by “people and places that I have known, or appeal to me on some spiritual or aesthetic level.”
Cultural geography and history are significant sources of inspiration as well as broader global events at the intersection of politics, gender, and religion. George explores the way that information is selectively kept and handed down and attempts to create visual narratives or ‘personal maps’ through art. His current work explores lost histories with the outcomes expressed at various times as paintings, prints or books. He tends to work in themes. In the Talisman Trilogy, for instance, he explores how time and cultural beliefs interact and evolve, sometimes resulting in harmony and other times conflict. George is a member of the Focus on Identity International Collective.
This FREE event will take place in the LPW Project Space. Booking is not required.
