Marie Virtanen
I have a BA in fine Art and an MA in Children’s Book Illustration. I illustrate and paint using acrylic, pen and lino print. I love to make images that make me smile, and its great when it makes someone else smile too. As well as making art for hanging on the wall, I also make my own books, posters and cards. Among my inspirations are the interplay between image and meaning and also repetition and nostalgia.
I am a relatively new member of the LPW, but have found it to be a friendly and professional setting for printmaking, both in respect to courses and as a workshop. I think that we are very lucky in Leicester to have such a great place to work, learn and mix with other artists.
