Laine Tomkinson
Laine Tomkinson is a Nottingham based artist who uses intaglio printmaking as her primary art form, employing etching, monoprints, collagraph and mixed media printing processes.
After studying Fine Art Printmaking at the University of Central Lancaster she has developed her practice in Manchester, Barcelona, and the East Midlands.
In mid 2011 she was successfully elected as a member of the Printmaking Council who promote and showcase contemporary British printmaking nationally and worldwide.
‘I use printmaking to evoke observations of literary, religious, political and personal themes- sometimes all in the same print!
My practice varies from abstraction to portraits- though a constant seems to be that they are highly primordial works – with a mixture of ugliness and beauty within.’
Laine will be the Leicester Print Workshop Artist in Residence from September 2011.
