Meet our new Textile Resident, Zoe Potter
4th February 2013
In order to build on and improve our provision for printmaking on textiles, we are thrilled to welcome Zoe Potter as our Textile Resident.
As Textile Resident, Zoe will build on her current skill base, learning and developing her practice as a printmaker on textiles. Using the heat press and other inhouse equipment she will determine which textile printmaking techniques can be easily practised and taught in the studio.
During the project period Zoe will work closely with our technician team, advising on improvements or developments to the studio whilst experimenting and creating new work, engaging Leicester Print Workshop members in her journey.
Zoe is an artist and printmaker based in Leicestershire with over ten years experience in Art Education. She loves to inspire and to be inspired.
My artwork combines photographic and hand drawn images screen printed on to paper. I work in to them in my studio using paint, emulsion transfer and hand stenciling techniques.
I have a desire to move my printmaking forward by developing my art into repeated print designs and to create a range of beautiful, bespoke fabrics suited to small scale textile products. Therefore, I am thrilled to have been appointed Textile Resident. I feel very at home at Leicester Print Workshop and I am delighted that I have been given this opportunity to become more involved. I feel very excited about what the future may bring.
Zoe will be demonstrating her tips and techniques to Leicester Print Workshop members and studio users throughout the residency. Watch her journey unfold online through her blog, Twitter page and Leicester Print Workshop’s facebook page.
The project will culminate with an artist talk at the studio. She will also use her skills to develop a new course for our course programme, so please keep checking back for updates.
