NOW BOOKING: New Online Courses & Artist Talk

1st July 2021

We are very happy to present a new programme of events and activities as part of Sue Baker Kenton’s immersive exhibition, Forward Broadcast.

Sue Baker Kenton is a visual artist whose work is rooted in observational drawing. Her images evolve over time in a considered and reflective way, echoed by the processes in which they are rendered: primarily etching and lithography.

Sue is also a very experienced printmaking educator, having taught on the course programmer here at LPW for many years, and is the specialist printmaking tutor for the UAL Foundation Diploma in Art and Design. We’re thrilled to present a new season of online courses to complement her new exhibition.

Sue is running 3 online courses in July and August. Each course is a chance to playfully experiment, learning new printmaking and mark-making skills, using the self as the subject.

Experimental Self Portraits (Drawing)
Friday 9th July – Friday 23rd July, 7pm – 9pm

This playful course will bring a new energy to your drawings as you are introduced to a variety of practical experimental methods. Each week you will complete a series of short exercises using different approaches to drawing portraits. Book here

Self Portrait in Print (Woodcut)
Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th July, 10am – 1pm

This course begins with an introduction to how artists working with woodcut have historically used the portrait form and the contextual influences behind these works. With guidance you will then design, cut and handprint your own self portrait. Book here

Monotype Self Portraits

Join us from 6pm – 7pm on Wednesday 21st July for an In Conversation artist talk live streamed from the LPW Studio!

Sue will be talking to LPW technician Katy Goodrich about Forward Broadcast, and the wider context of the project and her work.
