SEE: New Exhibitions
15th September 2020
We’re delighted to host two new exhibitions, Chado: Dreaming In Texture by Dominica Harrison here at LPW, and a LPW Shop Showcase of work by Nancy Power at The Print Room.
Chado: Dreaming In Texture A Journey From Print to Animation by Dominica Harrison
We are delighted to present a solo exhibition by artist Dominica Harrison at Leicester Print Workshop from 12 September – 7 November 2020. There will be an accompanying artist’s talk on Wednesday 30 September.
LPW is excited to be the first venue for this touring exhibition, which combines digital animation with printmaking. At the centre of the exhibition is the experimental animation Chado, a coming of age tale set in a Russian wilderness, in which a captivating series of Risograph prints are animated to create the hallucinatory sequences in this enchanting short film. These prints are displayed alongside the film, together with sketchbooks and character design work on solar plate prints, to give a fascinating insight into the processes behind making the work.
LPW Shop Showcase: Nancy Power at The Print Room, our exhibition space at LCB Depot
Nancy Power has been working as a linocut artist for over seven years now, after having had a thirty year career in the textiles and clothing industry.
Her work has mainly focused on creating reduction linocut prints of landscapes, trees, coastal scenes, plants and animals. Nancy had planned lots of trips in 2020 to get new inspiration – exhibitions to visit, people to see etc… but then, all that changed. She decided to use this time to do something very different in response to the current situation, resulting in the impressive series Layers of Life.
