Welcome to our new Chair, Clare Hudson
26th October 2016
We’re lucky to have a brilliant board of trustees here at Leicester Print Workshop.
At our last AGM and Board Meeting, two of our trustees, Soraya Smithson and Sue Hadfield-Hill stepped down as LPW board members after 9 years and 16 years’ service respectively. We’re very thankful to them to all they have helped us with in their time serving the board, and both will remain part of our extended LPW family, as members, and as part of our Shop Working Group.
At this meeting, our chair, Alexis Hutson also stepped down after being Chair for 4 years. Alexis has helped us to achieve some incredible things in the last four years as Chair, and we’re happy and grateful that she will continue to be a LPW board member.
Alexis says: “Being Chair of Leicester Print Workshop was a wonderful experience. The staff, volunteers and other Trustees are a great group of people who show incredible commitment to the organisation. I’m proud of the role I played during the new premises move, but I’m particularly excited about what the future holds for LPW.”
Congratulations to Clare Hudson who has been elected as our new Chair. She says: “‘I’m delighted and proud to be taking on the role of Chair of Trustees at this exciting stage in the 30 year history of Leicester Print Workshop. The organisation has achieved amazing things in the last couple of years and is now recognised as a centre of excellence nationally so I’m excited about our plans to welcome and work with an increasing number of people over the next few years.”
Our Director, Lucy Phillips says: “I have been very lucky in my years at LPW to have worked with a series of exceptional chairs. My first was Gordon Millar who brought a focus on governance and steered the LPW board through a restructure, getting it ready for growth. My second was Soraya Smithson who took great care of the organisation and as an artist ensured we put artists and artistic output at the centre of our business. My third was Alexis Hutson who worked side by side with me and the team to take us through our big move and who grew and developed the board and the staff team. And now I am delighted to be working with Clare Hudson whose expertise and experience will take us in a new direction as we settle into our new home and tell the world about printmaking. All the way through we have been supported by Sue Hadfield-Hill, who as our vice chair offered support, reason and enthusiasm as we moved through the different stages of our development. Sue and Soraya stepped down from the board at our AGM in September but will both remain on our Advisory Panel, providing support for me and the organisation over the coming years. All these people and our board members past and present have contributed to the health and wellbeing of LPW and they are very much appreciated by me and my colleagues”.
