Picasso on Paper - LPW at Compton Verney
26th October 2016
We’re really happy to be working in partnership with Compton Verney once again to create a Printmakers Workshop as part of their Picasso on Paper exhibition.
Picasso once described printmaking as his own way of writing fiction. This exhibition brings together 40 years of Picasso’s printmaking: etchings, lithographs, aquatints and linocuts drawn from the Museum Kunstpalast in Düsseldorf.
We’ve put together a programme of events and activities to compliment the exhibition, including an Introduction to Print course, a series of three Printer’s Choice talks and a drop-in Printmakers Workshop, open throughout the exhibition, where you’ll be able to find tool, books and information on techniques relating to Picasso’s prints.
LPW Artist Printer’s Choice Talks
These 20 minute talks will focus on different printmaking techniques and focus on prints in the exhibition and the process behind the work, followed by a Q&A. The talk is included in the exhibition admission, no need to book.
Tuesday 8th November – Sue Baker Kenton on Etching
Tuesday 15th November – Sue Rowland on Linocut
Tuesday 22nd November – Serena Smith on Lithography
As well as this, filmmaker Bill Newsinger worked with LPW Artist and Studio Worker Kate Da’Casto to produce this short, beautiful film about etching – a technique that Kate has made work in for many years. Read about why Kate loves etching here
The film follows the process of Kate producing an etching plate from start to finish. The film is available to watch in the Printmakers Workshop, and can also be viewed online here.
